The more I study and meditate on grace, the more I see the need for the message to be shared with Believers everywhere. Understanding the grace of God is what empowers a person to change. Many Believers are receiving the revelation on the grace of God and it is moving them into a place of victorious living. Through grace we are able to attain righteousness apart from our works and self-effort. Through grace we can live above the bondage of sin and carry out the things God calls us to do in His Word. We have the ability to live holy lives through this supernatural empowerment. It essentially allows us to produce the fruit of salvation.
One of the most dangerous things we can do is mix the Law and the grace of God. The Law is designed to arouse condemnation and guilt because of the sin nature, and point us to the need for a Savior. Grace is designed to set us free from condemnation and guilt so that we can run our race with confidence and boldness. The Law was part of the old covenant that God established during the time of Moses, and the grace of God is the benchmark of the new covenant that has been established through Jesus Christ. Christians do not have to feel condemnation and guilt over past sins. When we accept Christ we are cleansed of our sins and forgiven. To maintain a sin-consciousness after getting saved is in direct opposition to the nature we now possess as new creatures in Christ. We are no longer under the law of sin and death and therefore should not be ruled by condemnation. However, to get to this point, a mind renewal must take place.
I have often said that the thought of what Jesus has done for mankind can really bring you to tears when you spend time thinking about it. To think that He shed His precious blood in our place so that we wouldn’t have to experience the judgment of God for sin is nothing short of amazing and is a true testament to God’s love for us. Only He could provide the acceptable solution to the sin problem. All a person has to do to be free from the sin nature, which produces sin attributes, is to receive Jesus as Lord and personal Savior. In Him is continual cleansing from sin and eternal security. The grace of God is the power that enables us to live for Jesus after we receive Him and it also sets us free from having to try and earn our way to heaven.
This issue of CHANGE magazine is all about the grace of God and giving you insight into what God has made available to you. You will learn how to begin producing the fruit of salvation, how to rest in the finished works of Jesus Christ, and how to extend grace to others.
