It’s a brand new year and in this issue of CHANGE, we’re revisiting some things that you may have let slip, so that you can proactively move toward achieving all the goals and objectives you’ve set for yourself this year. God’s grace has made everything available for you; but remember, God works for you, through you.
I focus on the topic of laziness in this issue because a lazy life leads to an empty life. There’s no place in the life of a Christian for laziness. God is always on the move. He’s always leading and guiding you toward His perfect will and plan for your life. The question is, are you following Him? Although God instructs you to rest in Him, rest does not mean inactivity. Rest is placing your trust and confidence in Jesus and His ability to empower you as you carry out your daily responsibilities. Resting in Him produces a stress-free, worry-free life.
Now, that is one example of what I talk about in my article “Don’t Get It Twisted.” Today, we’re under the new covenant of grace. However, being under grace doesn’t mean that we can violate all laws, this would lead to lasciviousness or a total lack of restraint. And by doing so, we pervert God’s grace. Moreover, grace is not a license to sin. There are certain rules and regulations in place—like not speeding, obeying rules at work, not committing adultery or fornication—that are there for your good. When you ignore rules that were instituted to protect your welfare and well-being, you endanger yourself, your family, and other people.
Speaking of family, the article “Keeping Your Children Safe from Danger” in this issue of CHANGE focuses on very important members of your family—your children. Whether young children or teenagers, they’re bombarded with threats that in past generations were nearly unheard of. There’s the issue of bullying, predators hiding behind computer screens online and on social media, violent images on TV and in video games, peer pressure to experiment with sex and drugs, and so on. So make sure the goals you set for yourself this year include a hands-on, proactive role in your children’s lives. Keep them bathed in prayer, monitor who their friends are, websites they visit, “R” rated games they may have access to, and what they view on TV. God has entrusted their precious lives into your hands. He’s given you the grace to raise them to become productive members of society who will seek and follow God’s will for their lives.
Another article in this issue entitled “The Blessing of Sexual Purity” reveals why it’s so important to raise our girls to understand their value and worth in God, not the erotic images portrayed in magazines, movies, and on television. The image you instill in them at a young age goes a long way toward them becoming women of God who won’t compromise their bodies, morals, standards, and values later on in life.
Whatever the dream that God has placed in your heart to fulfill this year, He has graced you to not only accomplish it, but to rule and dominate in life! Praise God!
