First of all, I’d like to wish all the mothers a Happy Mother’s Day and all the fathers a Happy Father’s Day! God has called you to raise godly children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. This is no small task. But, by the grace of God, you are more than equipped to fulfill this monumental assignment in excellence!
To that end, in this issue of CHANGE, we’re focusing on topics that are near and dear to the hearts of men and women: our relationships with each other and the way in which God has commissioned us to conduct ourselves as His children.
If you’re married, my article entitled “Grace for Marriage,”discusses real-life challenges that arise in marriage and how to effectively deal with the imperfections we all bring into the marriage relationship. It’s so important that we keep Jesus as the third party in our marriage. If anybody knows about how to succeed in marriage, it is the Creator of the institution of marriage.
I also address singles in my article “Don’t Overlook the Red Flags.” When many singles are starry-eyed during the courtship phase, they ignore the “little” things (or red flags) that bother them about their potential mate. You simply cannot afford to do that! It’s the little foxes that spoil the vines (Song of Solomon 2:15). Those little things can loom large when hectic issues and tough decisions inevitably come up in marriage. What you once viewed as “quirky” and “cute” can fast become annoying, nerve grating, and downright irritating in marriage. So, don’t ignore those little things. Address them before you say “I do.” Singles will also be treated to confessions in our Faith Speaks section in this issue. These are confessions you can make regularly about using godly wisdom to choose a mate and enjoy a healthy relationship and marriage if that is your desire.
In recognition of Mother’s Day, in her article, “A Mother after God’s Own Heart,” Taffi shares some encouraging words and the importance of allowing the Bible to be your instruction manual as you raise godly children in today’s society.
Also, in honor of Father’s Day, my feature article entitled “Fatherhood—The Job of a Lifetime” was written to acknowledge all of the hardworking fathers who are committed to taking an active role in the lives of their children. A godly father is a blessing to his family and it is the job of a lifetime. Allow the grace of God to give you all the wisdom and resources needed to be the man, leader, and father God has called you to be.
We love hearing about what God is doing in your life, and we would love to hear how the Gospel of grace is impacting you, so please share your testimonies! Your feedback and comments are important to us, and we would love to hear from you.
