Being healthy is more than just being free from symptoms of sickness and disease. In fact, what most people do not know is that most major illnesses develop long before a single physical symptom surfaces. We live in a world that is essentially toxic. From eating nutrient-deficient food produced from nutrient-depleted soil, to breathing polluted air and drinking unclean water, our bodies and their cells and systems are bombarded with unhealthy toxins on a daily basis, creating the perfect environment for dis-ease to thrive. For this reason, it is imperative that we begin to look at what we can do to prevent our bodies from breaking down and succumbing to the ravages of illness.
Nothing just happens, including disease. Most of the time, the sicknesses many people find themselves battling can be prevented through disease education, which includes understanding the root causes of sickness, learning how to prevent them, as well as how to bring your body back to a state of optimum health.
Keep in mind that medicine is not used to get to the root of the problems that are going on in our bodies. Instead, it is used to cover up the symptoms without ever really addressing the source. Taking medicine is not bad, but when there is a serious issue going on in your body, medicine will not solve the problem. Taking a proactive stance where your health is concerned is critical, before you get sick.
Some of the most basic components of good health often get overlooked in today’s world. Proper nutrition and supplementation, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, drinking clean, purified water, and eliminating stress from your life are essential components to living long and strong. If we put the wrong things in our bodies, and never detoxify ourselves, we are asking for trouble. Too often, we neglect the things we know we need to do, and pay a greater price later on in life. Consider these facts:
These are very sobering statistics. They should not provoke fear, but rather an awareness of how important it is to take care of ourselves. The good news is that you can take control of your health today, simply by deciding to make some simple changes in your lifestyle. Diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer do not have to be written in your life’s story. You can take steps toward a long, strong life, one healthy choice at a time. For the next 30 days, keep a food journal and track your eating habits. You will probably discover a lot of things you need to cut back on or eliminate altogether. This is just one adjustment you can make. Others include committing to an exercise program, drinking more water, and getting adequate rest.
Good health is a gift from God, and it is our responsibility to protect it every day. In the upcoming months, we will discuss the roots of disease, and what you can do to ensure your body is an environment that does not allow sickness to thrive. Here’s to a long, strong life!
