The Lord has been dealing with me, now more than ever, about the issue of holiness. The closer we get to the return of Jesus Christ, the more we must take inventory of our lives, examining every area as if with a fine-toothed comb. Has compromise made inroads into our hearts and minds? Are we engaging in sin, knowing we need to repent and return to the Lord? Is there something we need to let go of that is holding us back from the fullness of God’s blessing in our lives? In order to see the Lord, we must live a life of holiness. It is the order of the day and must be the standard by which we conduct ourselves.
To be holy means to be of one mind with God. Essentially, it means to renew our minds with the Word until God’s way of thinking becomes our own. It is taking on the ideas, attitude, and mind-set of Jesus Christ in every area of our lives. This isn’t always easy, particularly when we are bombarded with images and words that contradict the ways of God. However, we must fight to maintain a lifestyle of holiness at all costs.
As we approach the halfway point of 2011, it is imperative that we continue to stand on God’s Word. There are many things happening in the world right now, things that are causing people to lose hope. For the Believer, however, our hope is in God. We can be confident that no matter what is going on around us, we are not alone. God can and will continue to provide for His people. Our part is to walk in His ways, be holy before Him, and not turn away from the standard of the Bible, even when the temptation to quit on God rears its ugly head.
