Floyd’s story:
I was a Muslim, and whenever I watched television, I would skip all the Christian TV programs. However, one day, I stopped to watch Pastor Creflo Dollar’s broadcast. What made me watch it that particular day was seeing Pastor Dollar and his wife teaching the Word together. I thought, What a wonderful example to put before the world! That really caught my attention, and it made me think about some things I was noticing in the black community—single parenthood, poverty, profane music, negative images, etc. It was refreshing to see a couple like them.
As I continued to watch Pastor Dollar on television, I began to understand the Word like never before. As time went on, I started to attend his conferences. I attended to honor him; however, I hadn’t converted back to Christianity.
One day, while at work, I confronted some drug dealers because they had been selling drugs to a young lady who was my co-worker. I looked into her eyes and saw death there. So, I confronted them about the issue, which made them angry. After the confrontation, things became hostile at work. I was calling on Allah, but nothing changed. Then I called on the name of Jesus, and something amazing happened. It was so powerful! Just like Jesus calmed the sea when the disciples cried out to Him, Jesus calmed my situation immediately. All the hostility ceased! Additionally, due to long hours at work and at school (I was working full time and going to school full time), I was extremely exhausted. However, after I called on the name of Jesus, my strength was renewed!
Shortly afterward, I went to a men’s conference at World Changers Church International, in Atlanta. This time, I went down to rededicate my life to Jesus. I also received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues!
Immediately, my life began to change drastically. I moved to Georgia from Maryland. I was unemployed for awhile, yet applying for jobs in various locations. I had received training as a CDL driver so I was applying for positions as a truck driver. This was in 2009, and jobs in Atlanta were scarce. Eventually, I had to move out of the extended-stay hotel I was living in and start living in my car.
I attended church services at World Changers Church every time the doors opened. I also started serving on the soul winning team. I was ministering to homeless people, but a lot of them were better off than I was because they had food and a roof over their heads at the shelters. One day, the Holy Spirit spoke to me, telling me to apply for a particular job right after church. I went to the job site and saw a sign that stated, “Apply within.” I applied for the job and was interviewed on the spot! I got the job! Eventually, I got an apartment, and I just began thanking God for all that He had done. When I began to just let go, let God, and allow Him to be my source, everything started working out fine.
Many times, men do not go to church unless they are in dire need of something. Honestly, many men go to church for selfish reasons. However, when I began to watch Pastor Dollar on TV, I saw a Christian man with integrity, walking by faith. And that moved me. He teaches the Word in a way I can understand so that I can apply it to my life.
I thank God for the transformation that has taken place in my life, and for my man of God, Creflo Dollar.
