One of the primary issues that will continue to be on the forefront of the world scene in these last days is finances. The closer we get to the return of the Lord, the more turmoil we will see in the financial systems of this world, such as banking institutions, the stock market, inflation, and national debt. The economy is declining, and for those who are hooked up to the world's way of doing things and are dependent on its systems of operation for survival, it will only get worse. However, those of us who are in the kingdom of God have a completely different system to lean on for provision, protection, and security. It is the kingdom of God system. When we begin to learn how to operate the principles that govern God's way of doing things, we can soar above financial hardship.
We need to know and understand that God takes care of His people. His kingdom operates according to a law called seedtime and harvest. This is the key to unlocking the provision of God in any and every situation, no matter what is going on around us in the world. God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts, which means that if we can access the mind of God where our prosperity and financial provision are concerned, we can gain insight into how to increase even in the midst of tough economic times.
Luke 6:38 says, "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." This scripture contains the formula for activating God's system of provision: give and it shall be given to you. You see, when you live your life according to God's principles, your provision is guaranteed. Every time you sow a seed, and water it with faith and love, a harvest is on the way. Seedtime and harvest doesn't depend on the economic conditions of this world or what may seem like a lack of resources. Heaven has every resource and blessing that pertains to life, and as children of God, we can partake of those things.
Second Corinthians 9:7-11 gives some important information about giving as well: "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God."
This passage of scripture lets us know a few things, the first of which is the importance of having the right attitude when we give. God is looking for people who are cheerful and willing to give. The motive of the heart means everything to God.
Second, it says that He will cause His grace to abound toward us so that we will have sufficiency in all things and for every necessity, including the things we do to build the kingdom of God. He promises to bring seed into our hands and to multiply the seed we sow, causing us to live in a state of perpetual abundance!
The Word doesn't say anything about this system being dependent on what is going on in the world. Christians live by a different set of laws. When we know what is available to us, and utilize our faith, we will never go without. The Word of God in us will cause us to outlast financial hardship, and while the world is trying to figure out what to do, we'll be praising God for what He's doing in and through us!
